Our core principles

What makes us tick?

We love the NHS. We are the NHS.

We are not a contracted supplier to the NHS nor are we  an impersonal service within it. We love the NHS as much as any member of the public who has had to rely on this great institution at some time in their lives.

This is why we feel strongly about creating a positive culture within the procurement service. We all know that if we can achieve for the NHS the potential that our professional expertise has trained us for we will gain a huge personal and professional sense of satisfaction.

Our beliefs, ideals and expected behaviours are therefore underpinned by four core values.

Commitment to Quality

Always demonstrate value for money in the activities we undertake
Ensure that decision making is ultimately focused on improving patient care (freeing up
clinical time and resources)
Be accountable and responsible
Take pride in our work
Endeavour to achieve a “right first time” approach
Learn from mistakes and ensure that “lessons learnt” become shared knowledge for the
benefit of others
Monitor monthly our performance against the KPI’s
Pursue innovative and efficiency approaches in all our work
Be an active member of a continuous service improvement environment

Respect and Dignity towards Clients and Colleagues

Value and respect each client and work colleague’s opinions
Treat all colleagues, clients and suppliers fairly and professionally
Always show courtesy and good manners and challenge appropriately those who do not
Listen and ensure we understand the point which is being made and question respectfully
any areas in which we may not agree

Working Together

Have a team approach
Work collaboratively with clients and suppliers to obtain the best deal for the client
Display mutual respect and cooperation at all times
Value other people’s ideas and contributions
To encourage colleagues to support change where change brings benefits.
Contribute to continuous improvement

To manage the levels of expectation of each task and to then undertake each task in a
timely manner
Work with managers to remove waste from all processes undertaken
To always consider whole life costings in the proposals of any project
Continuously look for opportunities to save money and generate income both for the client
and our service.
