Duties for the Procurement Manager include:

  • Proactively and positively contribute to the successful overall performance of the Trust
  • Deliver excellent levels of customer service to all patients/visitors and staff at the Trust
  • Act as an advocate for the Trust & its contribution to the Health Service arena through creating and maintaining effective partnerships and relationships with staff, patients and the general public
  • Develop and support the Trust culture of collaborative, flexible cross-team working and commitment to delivering quality services and outcomes, which maintain the Governments policies on public health
  • Work with sensitivity and an understanding of the issues facing those working to deliver health services to the UK population
  • Comply with corporate governance structure in keeping with the principles and standards set out by the Trust
  • Develop effective ways of working and create strong partnerships and relationships with all stakeholders to support the implementation of the Government’s policies on Health

  • In compliance with the Trust’s practices and procedures associated with the control of infection, you are required to:
  • Adhere to Trust Infection Control Policies assuring compliance with all defined infection control standards at all times.
  • Protect patients, staff and visitors from infection by performing hand hygiene when entering or leaving clinical areas and after each contact with a patient or patient’s equipment

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Continuous professional development (CPD) – evidence of Supply chain management training to be supplemented by additional specialist courses as required.
  • Purchasing Procedures workshops
  • Account management skills training
  • Able to demonstrate in depth experience of competitive tenders/quotations
  • Specialist procurement knowledge
  • Competent with all Microsoft programs
  • Good Communication: written & oral at senior manager level
  • Interpersonal, able to work as part of a large team
  • Able to use initiative and work independently
  • Well organised, able to prioritise both own workload and that of team members
  • Competent with all Oracle functionality and e-Cataloguing solutions
  • Good training skills
  • Ability to produce clear training and programs with support materials and documentation
  • Confident to contribute constructively at meetings
  • Project management experience or equivalent qualification
  • Experience of leading training and development sessions for team members and potential Clients
  • Experience of proactive category/Client management
  • Significant experience of negotiating contracts in a large organisation and a track record of achieving significant cost reductions
  • Commercially astute in leading on the development, negotiation and delivery of procurement project
  • Track record of achieving significant cost reductions.
  • Expert knowledge of EU procurement and contract management
  • Experience of competitive tenders/quotations
  • Experience of a customer service environment
  • Experience of public sector procurement ( PCR 2015)
  • Experience and training in contract management

The successful candidate will be focussing on the Pharmacy/Pathology & Imaging categories and working with the Commercial Director as Procurement Lead on a Trust wide Managed Service contract & a Pharmacy Out Patients Service via National Frameworks.
